When I showed up at Brooklyn Prep in February 1941, itching to impress my new school with the athletic gifts I’d brought, I was a skinny kid of 125 pounds. The closest I got to the football varsity that year was attending every game as a spectator. Finally, as a junior, I got my break from our new coach, Zev Graham.
